Microflex LRF A Bruker (Bruker Daltonics, Billerica, MA) Microflex LRF MALDI TOF mass spectrometer is used for the analysis of a broad range of compounds including small molecules, peptides, proteins, nucleic acids, and synthetic polymers. The Microflex accepts 96 spot target plates. The matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) source operates with a 60 Hz nitrogen laser at 337 nm. The instrument has a mass range of up to 20, 000 m/z in reflectron mode or 500,000 m/z in linear mode. The Microflex LRF is capable Post Source Decay (PSD) analysis if for structural characterization. Additionally the instrument is capable of mass spectral imaging. Polytools software is available for the analysis of polymer data.

The Micromass (Waters Corporation, Milford, MA) QTOF2 mass spectrometer is primarily used for mass analysis of polar materials and biomolecules via electrospray ionization.

An HP 5970 GC/MS running in dedicated EI mode (mass range < m/z 550) is available for open access usage. The instrument is equipped with a J&W DB-5ms 30m GC column, with 0.25 mm ID and 0.25 µm film thickness.

A Waters GCT Premier high resolution Time-of-flight mass spectrometer is primarily used for small organic analytes and low polarity materials. The instrument is equipped with electron ionization (EI), chemical ionization (CI), and field ionization/field desorption (FI/FD) ion sources. This instrument has a mass range up to m/z 800 in EI, CI, and FI modes and up to m/z 4000 in FD mode. Accurate mass measurement (<3 mDa) for elemental composition confirmation is available in EI, CI, and FI modes. The GCT Premier runs with an Agilent 7890 Gas Chromatograph with autosampler in "walk-up" access mode when not operated in solids probe mode by facility staff.
